Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car Navigation SystemStrengths: Plays all types of DVD's, CD's, MP3'S AND THE NAVIGATION IS OUTSTANDING...THE ON SCREEN DISPLAY IS SECOND TO NONE...YOU HAVE THE REAR CAMERA THAT LETS YOU SEE IN THE REAR...AN AWSOME UNIT!!! Weakness: TAKES MUCH PRACTICE TO UTILIZE ALL THE FUNCTIONS AND GADGETS IT COMES WITH! NEED TO REALLY READ THE OWNERS MANUAL PRIOR TO OPERATION OF THIS UNIT... WITH PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION YOU DON'T GET ANY FAN NOISE AS ONE READER STATED...INFACT THE SOUNDS COMING OUT ARE VERY CLEAR AND DISTINCTIVE. I RECCOMEND THIS UNIT TO ANYONE LOOKING TO PUT A TOUCH OF CLASS AND STYLE INTO THEIR VEHICLE. THIS UNIT IS JUST TOO GOOD AND IT HAS IT ALL IN ONE UNIT JUST WAITING FOR A TOUCH OF THE FINGER TO BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY. I RECCOMEND THIS UNIT TO ANYBODY THAT WANTS...

Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car Navigation SystemStrengths: all in one... navigation, dvd, cd, xm tuner ready...voice command, rear view camera, all the xtra lil toys...touch screen... i can go on forever.. Weakness: none... after having the unit installed i did not hear the fan noise tht the other review had stated...no weakness whtsoever.... This has to be the best piece of equipment i have purchased for my car yet, besides my rims. I am the envy of my neighborhood. u can also add different accessories to this unit. that is a plus in my book..i reccomend this for anyone who does want to put seperate pieces in their car.

Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car Navigation SystemStrengths: Great screen, fast navigation, easy to use interface. Weakness: Screen gets smudged easily. Upgrade map discs are expensive. DVD video does not work while car is in motion. I bought the clearance model AVIC-N1 because the AVIC-N2 does not have that many upgraded features for the price. I think the map upgrades are ridiculous -- around $250-280 for 2 DVDs. It does play almost everything -- CDs, DVDs, MP3s, etc. Lots of auxillary inputs and addons -- backup camera, TV tuner, satellite radio, XM NavTraffic. I would recommend this as the best bang for the buck value for...

Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car Navigation SystemStrengths: All-in-One Unit - NAV, Radio, DVD, CD, etc. Price competitive against other nav systems Weakness: Fan noise is annoying even with no DVD/NAV going. Maps are not up-to-date. Missing neighborhoods that are 5 years old. Had great hopes and expectations for this unit. Got it installed and instantly the noise the unit generates is very bothersome. Overcomes music at lower volumes even while driving. As stated, map coverage (Dallas) was very questionable. Seems as if they bought some source that was years and years old - missing whole neighborhoods. We are returning the unit.

Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car Navigation SystemStrengths: The touch screen and different nav views are nice. That's about it. Weakness: The fan noise is annoying, outdated maps, bad dvd menu where you cant just press the "button" on the menu. I been using the Alpine nav unit on my other car for some time now, the input is intuitive and you dont have to know exactly the street name, i.e.: st, blvd, ct or n, s, e, w. Heck, you dont even have to know the city the street is on. I find it frustrating because the maps are so outdated that most locations I need to get to is not on there and I have to use major cross streets to get close....

Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car Navigation SystemStrengths: its pretty Weakness: complicated to use and breaks often I have had this unit since June. The hide away unit has broken twice. Since the unit does not work without the hide away unit, I have to replace the radio with the stock unit while I send the Pioneer unit back (at a cost of $40)to have it repaired. This unit has been a waste of $2,000. Don't waste your money.

Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car Navigation SystemStrengths: System is constantly learning verry different from all other nav system with one toch system wil guide you back home, with a bussiness phone # navl take you straight there as more you use it gets bett Weakness: system will not work when vehicle is in motion, but this can be bypass by a switch real easy, fan noise is due to faulty instalation, in other words if you get it its not propertly install i have brought the new alpine D310 with the NVE-N852A navegation system i spend over $2800, this is true now and trust me it wont even come close to this i suggest, you to go to a local store see them both on display and you will see for you self (alpine lots of money no features no system interractions) Advertisement

Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car Navigation System
Strengths: The display is good, the sound is great, the controls are easy to understand and the touch screen makes navigation easy. The cooling fan is in the hide away unit, no noise.
Weakness: Navigation isn't the best, it doesn't have the same address detail as the Garmin units. It gets you close, 1,000 feet, then you have to start looking.
I just bought my second unit for the motor home. I like the fact that everything is neat, and enclosed in one display unit. There is also a hide away unit, add the TV and you have another hide away unit, add a disk changer and you end up with lots of wires under the carpet. This unit is much better than the Panasonic equivilent, which doesn't have the GPS navigation feature.
